The Empty House by Rosamunde Pilcher

I got this in one of those a-kilo-for-200-bucks sales. ๐Ÿ˜€ Looked interesting, so I got it. I like light, contemporary women literature, so why not. This one is going to be really short and hopefully sweet. ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way, this is the 10th 12thย book (I wrote 10th by mistake ๐Ÿ˜› ) that I read as part of theย Brunch Book Challengeย and as I said, Iโ€™ll be logging my opinion about every book that I read as part of this challenge. In case you want to participate in this challenge too, read up about itย here.

Coming back to the book, if you read the excerpt on the back cover of the book, you would know exactly what this book is about. So, yes, in that sense, it is not so much of a gripping story. However, the way things and places and characteristics of people are described, it is a warm, positive read. You feel really warm, fuzzy and positive when you are reading this. It was a very light read, you kind of expect the ending but few unexpected things happen towards the climax so that was good. It is not a must read, but if you like contemporary women literature or light love stories,ย then this is one light, warm, touching and positive story. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. You really are a book-worm aren’t you? But its incredible how in this age of social networking sutes there are those like you. Most of us don’t read now a days.

You must have been to that bookstore by PVR in CP. Over my 4 years in delhi, I have read over 300 books from that single place ( second hand, cheap ). In fact, if you are there on sunday evenings, chances are you might bump onto me lost in some book ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you are not regular there, I highly recommend it for your….appetite.

    Keep it up ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks Tatsat. Well, the truth is that I am not so much of a reader. As in, I LOVE reading but I don’t read enough (I have hardly read any of the books that people around me discuss). This is the first year in my life in which I am reading so much, all due to this Brunch Book Challenge. During my graduation years, my reading took a back seat and therefore, I have become a slow reader as well. As a kid, I was a fast reader.

Oh, and, this book I got from a stall in a mall near my house, they keep having these street stalls type exhibitions. But thanks for mentioning this book stall in CP, so going to check it out :D, although, unlike many book lovers, I am not a big fan of second-hand books, I know people love them so much because of all the history involved with an old book but I only buy them because they are cheap, otherwise I prefer a new book. ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Haha thats quite alright. You already know why we like second hand books. It is almost like a treasure hunt, in addition to what the book is about ๐Ÿ˜‰

Its understandable that reading has slowed down over the years. Because ,in all probability, you contemplate and dig deep as you read now. Good signs ๐Ÿ™‚

Even if you are not that fond of second hand books, you definitely should visit that shop. Its by the side of pvr plaza. You will know why I love that place when you get there ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Lol at the ‘errr’, people very comfortably read it in Delhi metro here, so you can chill ๐Ÿ˜‰ Tell me how you liked it though, same goes for 3 men and TFIOS. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • It is a very different genre for me. The writing is very juvenile. ‘She flushed/blushed/turned scarlet’ every 5 minutes. I dont like a weak portrayal of women. I like them strong and feisty.

        • aah, ok. but can it be so as to enhance the erotic nature of the actual story? As in maybe the story itself is about a couple where the man is strong and the woman is naive or younger? I mean, yes, they could have done the opposite way as well but you get my point, right? The story is conceived to show the woman as innocent, naive types, maybe not because she is a woman but because they wanted to show the girl as naive and the boy as the strong one not necessarily because he’s a boy, but to have a hot story? (I haven’t read the book)

    • I am reading so much only this year, even I hate the fact that I never read as much as I would want to. ๐Ÿ™‚ But from now onward, I am going to make sure that I read as much as I can, you too try. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Thanks for reminding me of the 10 books ( that I have not yet touched) ,that I got in a similar kind of sale ๐Ÿ˜›
