Before I begin with this post, I would like to talk about this blog that I recently started following: The Lit Room, for their awesome pictures of books. Every time I am clicking books, I think I am unknowingly taking inspiration from their shots of books. Those shots are so nice with vintage objects dropped in here and there. 😀 Cool, right?

Coming back :), this is the third book that I read as part of the Brunch Book Challenge and as I said, I’ll be logging my opinion about every book that I read as part of this challenge. In case you want to participate in this challenge too, read up about it here.

This is a Hindi book and I am not sure how many of you reading this space read Hindi, or even understand Hindi. However, since its one of the best writers of all times and one of my most favorites, Munshi Premchand, I cannot not let you guys know how much I love reading his books!

I have read numerous of his short stories collections and obviously, ended up with reading the same stories again in different short stories collections. When I discovered this collection at the book fair, I saw the names of the stories on the cover and thought that I recall only two or three. So, I assumed that I must not have read many of these and bought it immediately. Of course, while I was reading it, I realized I have read many at some point of time. I loved, loved, loved reading them anyway and there were many that I was reading for the first time, which is a huge deal for the case in point. 😀

I cannot get enough of his heart wrenching emotional stories which have so much of character in them. His literature is all about realistic stories of things happening around during his times, with the emotions of the characters carved and depicted beautifully. Even if the times are so different now from the times in the stories, one can easily feel the pains and the dilemmas of the characters. If you are good at understanding written Hindi (quite a rarity these days), there is no way that you are not going to fall in love with these stories. As far as I am concerned, I am a complete fan but unfortunately, I haven’t read any of his novels and I hope I read them soon. 🙂
