I love street markets. No, no, not only for the awesome bargains that you find there on amazing and unique stuff but also because they are so beautiful, colorful and culturally rich (ok, not all of them but most Indian street markets fit this bill perfectly). If you have been to Bapu Bazaar in Jaipur or Connaught Place in Delhi (<3), you would know what I’m talking about.

I have seen many bloggers post about markets that they really like for different reasons. Some do it because they want their readers to know about good places to shop in different parts of the country, some do it because they are so in the awe of the huge deals that they score at these markets (:D) and well, some do it only because of the sheer pleasure it gives to be at such a colorful place and photograph everything over there.

Well, as I mentioned, I love, love, love street markets of India and I have been craving to buy a camera since so long. I want to start with photography real soon and one of the things that attract me as a subject is yes, street markets. 🙂 When I lay my hands on a new camera, I’ll post all about the street markets that I have visited & liked, and also about the ones that I have heard about from various sources and really do want to visit. The only problem is that there is still a long time for me to buy a new camera. 🙂 But yes, when it comes, covering the following places is totally on the cards:

• Bapu Bazaar, Jaipur: This place is the bomb. I wonder why it is not as famous as I expected it to be. I went there for my cousin’s wedding shopping because she puts up in Jaipur only. I was so in awe of this place. It is a much bigger and better version of Dilli Haat, New Delhi. Honestly, Dilli Haat does not even come near to its grandeur but as it is more well-known, I am using it as the reference.
• Dilli Haat, New Delhi: Not really a street market but similar to that. The stuff is sometimes expensive too but well worth it because it is mostly handcrafted. Extremely beautiful place and is a picture of India’s rich culture with crafts from various states of India.
• GK-1, M-Block Market, New Delhi: A market that gives you bargains and the feeling of being in a swanky place at the same time. If you are a college student, you might know places in Delhi which offer better bargains than this place but the stuff here is so, so good. At least, that is what I feel.
• Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi: Shopper’s Paradise. Also, one is surrounded by so much variety in everything. Maybe not everyone consider it photographic material, but most markets for me are photographic material. 😀 (Just that I do not have a camera right now. :P)
• Connaught Place, New Delhi: Love. I can roam here for hours without getting bored. With all the things of our times, what makes this place so lovable is the little vintage-y shops. In fact, only today I came across one such shop that sells silver jewellery. I just never want to get over with this place, never.
• Paharganj, New Delhi: It is shameful that I have not been to this place even  once despite of living in Delhi. Hippie’s Paradise. Very vintage. It is not the place to be if you are seriously shopping for clothes, shoes etc. You should come here when your motive is exploring things. You will find artifacts, amazing jewelry, handbags, books etc over here.
• Colaba Causeway, Mumbai: Again, I have never been here. But I have been so captivated by all the pictures that I have seen of it on various blogs. I think its too good for jewelry.
• and many, many more street markets.

PS: The problem is that it would take a really long time for posts about these places to be on my blog because I’ll NOT be buying the camera very recently. Also, I do feel a little sad inside that I am posting this without a single picture. I wanted to start this section with pictures but couldn’t wait till I get a camera because that may take time.

PPS: I seriously hope there are other people too who love street markets at least as much as me. 😀
